Last fall before all the snow fell Grace and Eric came out with me to shoot their Trash The Dress session. Here are my favorites from their set. I love the train trestle we started out at in Bellevue.

Traci and Jason were super excited to head out to Pioneer Square and get dirty. I’ve had an idea for a bride on a fire escape for a while now and I finally got to create that image. For this shoot I brought along a few SB-800 and SB-900 strobes which were fun to create dramatic lighting with. Both Traci and Jason were awesome! Thanks guys!

My first wedding of 2008 was February 9th in Wenatchee, WA. Normally getting to Wenatchee from the Seattle side of the mountains entails driving about 2-3 hours across one of two major mountain passes between the Cascade range. However, due to heavy snow storms in the mountains both pases were closed most of the week! Not so good! Thank goodness I was able to book the last seat on a Horizon Air commuter plane out of Seattle to Wenatchee on Friday!

Danielle and Brian are such a sweet couple. I really enjoyed photographing them. They had their reception at the Chateau Faire Le Pont winery in Olds Station. Here is a slideshow of their wedding day and Sunday morning’s Trash the Dress session.

Late last month I ventured off to my uncle’s Bed & Breakfast Pine River Ranch in Leavenworth near Lake Wenatchee for a make believe wedding / photo shoot of Elizabeth and Ross. Tim spent all summer refurbishing the ranch and transforming the old milk barn into an awesome rustic country wedding location. It’s still in progress but we wanted to showcase what a wedding would be like at the ranch so we had Elizabeth and Ross get married for us all over again to capture the magic of the ranch in photos. It was a beautiful sunny day in late October and while the air was crisp the sun was warm and cast a glorious glow on the whole place.

Elizabeth and Ross were fantastic! My mother-in-law Christi showed them my portfolio prior to arranging to have them get married for us again and Elizabeth was totally into my Trash The Dress sessions. So, right after the ceremony we headed down to the river behind the ranch and proceeded to trash her dress in the COLD COLD water. Boy! Elizabeth was a trooper. She went all the way under! Sara and I both captured some great shots of her dunking. What fun! I love how crystal clear the water was. The refraction of light on her dress underwater totally makes those shots for me.

Alexa & Camilo trashed the dress at the beach in Discovery Park.

Sunday morning I got up early and headed down to Seattle’s Discovery Park to meet Alexa & Camilo on the beach. The tide was WAY out which exposed massive mud flats for us to go play around on. We had a great time on the beach and in the tall grass skirting the bluff. There were several people giving us questioning looks as we tromped around in the sand and kelp. I remembered to wear beach sandals this time to avoid ruining my good leather loafers! It was a beautiful day and the morning light was perfect. When we had finished up and were headed back up the beach we had a few people ask us if we were shooting for a magazine. Hmm, maybe.

Alexa and Camilo were able to make it up to the studio the other night to view all of their images and we had a great time laughing and remembering the day. Here’s a snippet from an email I received today from Alexa.

To make this story even more fabulous, a local woman who was visiting the beach while we were there shooting snapped a few images of us making our way back to our cars and she posted them on flickr. Now, there’s no way I would have ever come across them by myself but to my surprise, a woman named Kathleen happened across them and left a comment for me on the blog to tell me. What a small world.
