Internet access here has been very hard to find. Tonight we’re staying in a pretty nice beach resort though and finally we’re able to update the blog. The last few days have been incredible and life changing. We have had the pleasure of meeting a lot of local people connected to the water project here. We’ve learned about their needs and how Thirst Relief is working with the local team to fund the construction and delivery of bio sand filters all over the Bagamoy0 district here in Tanzania. Water here isn’t even safe to drink from the municipal water supply, should you be lucky enough to have the shallow laid pipes anywhere near your home. Even the ground water collected from common shallow wells is contaminated with e.coli. The new bio sand filter we installed in this village will provide these orphans with clean and safe water and provide with with the opportunity to grow healthy and strong.

Above are a few images from our trip to a nearby village orphanage. I hope they stir your soul and tug your heart as they did mine when I captured them.

Katie and Bryan are so cute together. I had a blast photographing them for their engagement session a couple weeks ago. Check out their slideshow from our time in Seattle’s Arboretum.

Traci and Jason were super excited to head out to Pioneer Square and get dirty. I’ve had an idea for a bride on a fire escape for a while now and I finally got to create that image. For this shoot I brought along a few SB-800 and SB-900 strobes which were fun to create dramatic lighting with. Both Traci and Jason were awesome! Thanks guys!

This was shot with my Nikon D3 and Nikkor 200mm f2.0 lens. (1/160th @ f2.0, 6400 ISO, hand-held, DX crop on)

It was just past dusk, about 9:30PM, and I knew I was going to need a decent shutter speed to squeeze off a clean shot of the zebra from that distance so I upped the ISO to 6400. The D3 is just amazing. Look at that grain! It looks like film!

The Zoo’s Jungle Party was fun! Look for images from it in Seattle Metropolitan’s September issue.

Cam and I were out on the back deck yesterday having fun taking pictures of the woods and each other. I was testing out my new Nikon D3 and he was using my D200 with a 50 1.4. I love this shot of him taking my picture. He’s just so adorable and really interested in photography. Perhaps one day he’ll be running the business instead of me.

We had a great time at Pikes Place Market followed by a walk down the pier to the Olympic Sculpture Park. By the time we were ready to eat dinner at The Old Spaghetti House across the street the kids were running on fumes.

Tasha and I met downtown Seattle last week to photograph her senior session in an old abandoned warehouse I found a few years ago. It has all kinds of great industrial looking nooks and crannies and we made use of quite a few of them. Check out her slideshow above for a few of my favorite shots.

Carrie and I headed out to the historic part of North Everett the other day to photograph her senior portraits. We found this cool alley side frontage to an old store that made for a great backdrop. Check out the shots below and the slideshow for more! Carrie and I met at Ellen’s wedding last month. Ellen and Carrie are sisters in case you didn’t see the family resemblance.
