Last night I shot the first annual Get Hitched Give Hope event at the recently remodeled Arctic Club Hotel in downtown Seattle. If you weren’t able to attend, check out the slide show above to see what you missed!

The dome room at the hotel is great! It made for an awesome space for their event. My good friend Jason Parker was there with his quartet busting out some sweet jazz to liven up the room and so many of my friends and colleagues were either donating their time volunteering at the event or displaying their craft as vendors. The incredible Steven Moore provided the massive floral center pieces and Kate McElwee setup a photo booth complete with props near the bar. (Check out her blog for some sweet snaps.) Movin 92.5’s Brooke and Monti from The Ladies Room were there to MC.

On first count I hear they earned $24,000 for breast cancer last night! Way to go ladies!

Laura & Alex – September 7th 2008

On a bright and sunny day in September they had their beautiful wedding at Indian Summer Country Club in Olympia.

Originally Alex and Laura were set to get married last year but Alex’s deployment put their plans on hold. Not this time though. We started out their day in downtown Tacoma at Hotel Murano, a swanky new hotel with art glass as it’s central theme. Situated right next door to Tacoma’s Museum of Glass it’s not a surprise who influenced their decor. Laura had a suite to get ready in with her brides maids. She wore these awesome steel heeled Stuart Weitzman shoes that could take your eye out if you’re not careful.

Alex and his men were in a blue toned room a few floors below figuring out a few last minute tux issues. I found Alex helping out his cousin and took them downstairs for Laura and Alex’s first meeting in the hotel lobby. We were running a bit late and didn’t have much time to make the drive from Tacoma to Olympia so we kept it short at the hotel.

Right outside the front doors is a monolithic green glass art piece that made for awesome portraits of the two of them.

Thanks Laura and Alex! It was awesome being part of your day! I can’t wait to do your trash the dress session!

Destination Weddings

I am based in Seattle, Washington; however, destination weddings are accepted and encouraged! I love to travel and would be delighted to cover the world for your wedding. Planning a wedding in Bali? I’m in. Planning a beach wedding in Savannah? I’m in. How about a gorgeous Chilean wedding set in the foothills of the Andes outside of Santiago? I’m so there.

September Seattle PUG – Shooting on White Seamless

Mission Lounge – Photographer Get Together

Last week Brian and Jennifer Hartman of Photo Elan hosted a get together of several local Seattle photographers. We met up at Mission in West Seattle for drinks and had a great time talking with old friends and meeting some new local talent as well.

Laurel McConnell brought along Sarah Rhoads, a new photographer on the Seattle scene. Also in attendance was Janet Klinger, Savanah Kent, Joann Arruda, Stephanie Cristalli, Dani Weiss, and Michael Rosenberg. I know I missed two people but I can’t recall who.. Email me and help me remember.

Seattle PUG Party :: Thursday, 8.23.2007

Yes, I know, I’m so great at getting out timely invitations… Regardless, the August Seattle PUG meeting/party is this Thursday! I hope you all can make it!

While I wish I could say I’ve had an original thought, I haven’t. When I read Me Ra’s email I thought, “That’s brilliant!”. So, we too are going to have a big smashing party here at my studio. Bring some snacks and I’ll provide the alcohol! Woo Hoo! Martinis, red wine, microbrews and probably something fruity too.

It’s been a busy year and I know we could all use a little time to relax and perhaps tell some great stories and share some of your favorite images from the summer!

If you’ve not been to a PUG meeting before, I encourage you to come and check it out! While we do talk shop about Pictage for a bit, it’s mostly a great time to get together and share amongst fellow photographers.

You don’t have to be a member of the Pictage community to join us for a drink!

Belle Epicurean – Awesome French Patisserie in the Historic Fairmont Olympic Hotel

Last Saturday I was downtown at the Fairmont Olympic Hotel to photograph Jeanne and Marc’s wedding. I got there early as I normally do so I poked around the hotel for a bit looking for cool places to shoot and I ran into this awesome little french patisserie in the foot of the hotel called Belle Epicurean. What a treat! I love french pastry so I had to check out this little gem of a bakery. It’s all very French inside, right down to the white subway tile behind the counter. The display case was packed with yummy foods which made the decision making experience difficult but I settled on a cafe au lait and a wonderful little chocolate and orange tart that was heavenly. It had a very rich chocolate base with orange custard on top and a candied mandarin orange crown.

I’m not a food writer nor a critic but I’d say you have to check out this place if you work downtown or live in the area. I’d even venture to say I’d drive downtown, out of my way, to give them my money.

The owner, Carolyn Bianchi Ferguson, is a native to Seattle and attended culinary school at the Le Cordon Bleu in Paris. She uses all natural and organic ingredients. (I love that!) She even bakes wedding cakes. Brides, check her out!

Apulent Events :: Shilshole Bay Beach Club Slideshow

Check out the my new slideshow playing at Apulent’s Shilshole Bay Beach Club!

Ryan from Apulent called me the other day and asked if they could display the slideshow of Tiffany and Bobby’s wedding on their 37″ Sharp Aquos LCD TV behind the bar at the Beach Club venue and of course I said sure!

I redid the slideshow with appropriately sized images so it looks great on the tv and dropped it off for Ryan. Next time you’re at the club check it out or view it on my website (it’s pretty big so be patient).
