Jaqueline & Tim – Engaged

Jacqueline and Tim are getting married on October 11th in Seattle. It’s coming up quick! I’m so excited!

We got together last week in Snohomish for their engagement session and had a fantastic time. Here are a few of my favorite shots from the day.

Here’s a fun shot in the woods behind my studio where we started their session. Totally cute.

Next we jumped in my MINI and headed over to Snohomish where we ventured out onto an abandoned railroad bridge. It was REALLY high up over the river but totally fun!

This is one of my favorite shots of the whole day. I love Jacqueline’s little leg lift and lines of the rails receding into the background.

I can’t wait to see you both on Saturday!

Wendy and Mark – Engagement Session

My cousin Wendy and her fiance Mark were on vacation recently and popped up to Seattle for a few days. While they were here they were treated to Seattle’s famous cloud layer and rain but thankfully we were able to get a short engagement session in between showers. Here are some of my favorites.

Hung and Eric – Engagement Session

It’s been a busy month for engagement sessions! Here’s Hung and Eric’s engagement session from last week. Eric works in Redmond so they like to hang out in Kirkland when they have free time, checking out the galleries and sipping coffee at their favorite coffee shop up the street. Of course we had to go check out the cafe and get a bite to eat. St. James Espresso makes great panini and their ’signature’ cafe mocha was excellent. It even came with a little licorice scotty dog on the saucer.

From there we headed down to the waterfront and watched the sun set from the dock. It was a perfect day!

Erin and Casey Engagement Session

Erin and Casey are getting married at Salish Lodge on July 12th! It’s coming up quick!

Last week we took advantage of the wonderful weather and headed out to Snoqualmie Falls upon which Salish Lodge is perched for their engagement session. Paying no heed to the dire warnings about being in a place prone to flash floods we jumped over the boardwalk railing and scrambled down to the river bed below to the base of the falls. It’s a beautiful place to be on a warm, sunny, Pacific Northwest day. The fine mist rising up from the falls felt good on the skin as we enjoyed the sun’s rays. Unfortunately for me, it doesn’t play well with camera lenses! I had a few great shots that are *totally* fogged up do to the intense mist. Oh well! We still made out with some killer shots of the soon-to-be weds.

Laura and Alex Engagement Session

Stephanie and Peter – Daytona Beach, Florida

Last week Sara and I flew down to Orlando, Florida for Stephanie and Peter’s amazing wedding. Here’s a slideshow from the engagement session we did at Daytona Beach Friday morning before the rehearsal. The weather was amazing both Friday and Saturday. It seems I get in trouble everywhere I go. I had Stephanie and Peter playing around in the water under the pier and not 20 minutes into shooting there we hear a broadcast announcement from the lifeguard PA system ‘There is no water activity allowed under the pier. If you’re under the pier please leave.’ Well then. Good thing I was finished anyway!

We had a great time at Pikes Place Market followed by a walk down the pier to the Olympic Sculpture Park. By the time we were ready to eat dinner at The Old Spaghetti House across the street the kids were running on fumes.

Kim and Alex are planning their wedding in New Hampshire in 2008. In the mean time they called me to go out with them and do their engagemnt session. We headed down to Discovery Park to enjoy the sun and ended up very near Kim’s apartment in downtown Seattle at Pikes Place Market. It was a great day and I really enjoyed spending time with them both!

Courteney & Jed – The Proposal at Cape Flattery, WA

Jed plans a yearly surfing trip out on the coast of Washington. This year he had more things to worry about than how many wetsuits to bring for his buddies. Courteney and Jed have been dating for over a year and he thought it would be a perfect time and place to propose. I made the trek out to Neah Bay and captured it all covertly. Alexa & Camilo’s Engagement Session in Vancouver, BC

Alexa and Camilo love Vancouver and routinely drive up for long weekends away from home. On one of their weekends away in Canada, Camilo proposed on the beach. A few weeks ago I joined them in Vancouver to spend the day enjoying their favorite city. After meeting up at the hotel I jumped in their car and we headed to Grainville Island to check out the farmers’ market. We bought some cheese and a bit of meat and had a snack out on the pier before taking a freakishly small water taxi boat across the river to check out an oyster house they love. Unfortunately it was closed! So, we had coffee at a nearby coffee house and took off to the park out on the peninsula.

The weather was crazy that day! It rained then it would thunder and lightning for a while before clearing up and the sun would break out of the clouds. It made for seriously dramatic skies all day long. I was loving all the changing lighting conditions! Woo Hoo! After checking out the park and the beach we went back to the hotel for a bit to wait for sunset. The light was beautiful when we got to the beach where Camilo proposed to Alexa. On the grass just inland from the beach the city had commissioned an art piece. It looks just like an enormous engagement ring! How cool is that?! We bid farewell to the sun on the beach and took off for the Banana Leaf restaurant for dinner. It was awesome Malaysian cuisine. We then headed over to Cardero’s on the waterfront for a nightcap. What a perfect end to the perfect day.

Needless to say, I had a great time spending the day with Alexa & Camilo. They showed me around Vancouver like natives and it was a treat to see all their favorite places and restaurants in the city. Thanks Alexa and Camilo! I can’t wait for your wedding!

Sara & Tom’s Engagement Session

Teresa & Charles’ Engagement

Teresa and Charlie are getting married! We met in Seattle on an overcast afternoon last week to check out the marshy trail system near the Arboretum and take their engagement photos. Boy! That was an adventure!

It rained the night before so the trail was really soggy. Poor Teresa was wearing a pair of sandals that were completely muddy by the time we called it quits. We all had a great time trying to stay out of the mud! At one point we balanced on a board and ventured out onto a small dock off the trail to take some portraits of them. You can see in the slideshow a few photos of Teresa balancing on the edge of the trail. I guess the guy in rubber boots that I saw pass us on the trail head should have been a clue!

Monica & Bryant’s Engagement Session

Stephanie & Jeff’s Engagement Session

I met up with Stephanie and Jeff at Parson’s Garden last week on Queen Anne in Seattle to do their engagement photos. We had never met before that day so it was great to finally meet and hang out for a while.

Parson’s Park is where Jeff proposed to Stephanie after they moved out to Seattle together so it was fun to go back there to photograph them.

Stephanie and Jeff are getting married at The Edgewater Hotel on the pier in Seattle this July. It’s a great venue and I’m excited to shoot there again.

Andrea & Evan’s Engagement Session

Andrea and Evan drove up from Aberdeen last week to visit relatives so we met up at Discovery Park in Seattle to enjoy the afternoon and photograph their engagement session. These two are so in love it just oozes out of every image I took. I had a great time and I think they did too.

The tide was out when we arrived at the park and while I had intentions of taking them up into the wooded area of the park we never made it there. The beach was too much fun and the golden light of the late afternoon was too perfect.

They’re getting married over in Chelan at Campbells Resort in September. Between these two and Andrea & Marty I’ll be back over the mountains to my home town of Wenatchee twice this year. I love Chelan, it’s a great town and the lake is amazing in the summer.
