Alexa & Camilo’s Wedding

Alexa & Camilo were married at The Pagoda at Point Defiance Park in Tacoma, WA on Saturday, August 25th 2007.

Alexa and Camilo are a really fun couple that I love spending time with. Last month we headed up to Vancouver, BC to shoot their engagement session and it was an enchanting day. We had such a great time that I couldn’t wait to photograph their wedding! Now the day has come and past and here I am sharing my thoughts about it here.

Their day started on a precarious note as all lanes of I-5 were blocked south bound into Tacoma for about 6 hours. This meant getting to Point Defiance Park from the north was a bit of a challenge. I called Alexa on her cell phone when I knew it was inevitable I was going to be late getting to the Pagoda to start photographing her and her bridesmaids getting ready. As I found out, she too was running behind schedule by an hour and a half. She had just gotten to the salon to have her hair done! Ok, no worries, we’ll just condense the schedule! When I arrived at the Pagoda park I found Camilo and his dad Al pulling into the parking lot. Shortly there after the rest of the bridal party and family started filtering in and we all got to work setting up the ceremony site. Crazy!

Alexa made it to the park with plenty of time to spare and started getting dressed and makeup applied. It was a little stressful but in the end everything flowed just fine. They were able to keep the ceremony time they had planned for and we still got all of our planned familiy photos done.

The Pagoda is a beautiful place for a summer wedding. The interior of the pagoda has ornate vaulted ceilings that bounce light nicely for great photography and the exposed brick walls create a great overall mood for the reception.
