Megan & Travis’ Wedding
|
Megan & Travis were married at Willows Lodge in Woodinville, WA on Saturday, August 10th 2007.
It was back in April that I met Megan and Travis at the University of Washington campus for their engagement session. Now they’re married!
I started out the day at Megan and Travis’ home in Bothell where we waited for the limo to arrive. I jumped into the black stretch Lincoln with Megan’s maid of honor, her daughter and Megan’s and Travis’ moms. First stop was Willows Lodge to drop off the dress in the changing room adjacent to the reception ballroom. Then we were off to the Gina Mary salon in Issaquah to get Megan’s hair done. I thought the ladies at the salon did a fabulous job with Megan’s hair. It looked gorgeous!
Back to the lodge we went and with Champagne flutes in hand the ladies were relaxing. Looking at her dress hanging in the room was starting to make Megan a little nervous. It was becoming very real, very rapidly.
I had Chris Bowden, my second shooter for the day, meet us at the lodge to photograph the guys while I was with Megan and her ladies. The Willows Lodge is immaculate and made for a perfect venue for their wedding day. Giving Megan a little time to relax before the ceremony, I went off to the ballroom to photograph the cake and the table settings. Mike’s Amazing Cakes created their simple but elegant cake. I like all of the ribbon I’ve seen on cakes this year. It’s a neat idea but it does make it a bit more work for the bride and groom to perform the cake cutting.
Megan was beaming when I went back to her room to check on her before they started the processional. What a beautiful bride! Dad took her by the hand and escorted her down the aisle with grace. The herb garden on the south side of the lodge was beautifully prepared with wooden folding chairs for the guests and beautiful vases filled with orchids standing sentry at the start of the aisle. Megan and Travis shared a very nice unity ceremony with two vessels of wine that they poured together into a common wine glass. Each of them drank from this glass, symbolizing their unity. It was very nicely done.
We had a beautiful day for an outdoor wedding with bright sunny skies which were fun to play with. I used the sun to create dramatic lens flares in some of the ceremony shots which I think look awesome.
Here are a few of my favorite images from the day:
