Sara & Tom’s Wedding
Sara and Tom had a wonderful wedding in her parents backyard in Issaquah followed by a honeymoon on Tom’s sailboat in the San Juan Islands! I can’t wait to hear all about their adventures when they return!
It was a very relaxed wedding with all sorts of friends and family in attendance. Tom brewed beer for the reception (the porter was exceptional!) which was a real treat. Mead was the drink of choice for the toast instead of bubbly which was very appropriate.
I’m seeing a lot of tradition and heirlooms in weddings this year. Sara and Tom were of no exception. Their wedding rings were a gift to them from Sara’s Grandma. The set belonged to her and her late husband. Very special! Also, a backyard wedding is how Sara’s parents were married.
My friend Jack Young came along to second shoot with me. As always, he was a great help. I love working with Jack. The portraits below were taken in the neighbor’s yard in open shade. The awesome bokeh and shallow depth of field were obtained by using my Nikon 200mm f 2.0 lens that I adore. That and my 85mm f 1.4 are my two favorite lens at the moment with the 17-55 running third place even though it’s my workhorse lens. There’s something about using a fast prime lens that you just can’t match with a zoom…
Check out their slideshow! Their whole set of images will be online soon at Pictage.com so go register for their event and you’ll be notified when they’re available for viewing.
